Crunchy Bottoms

Striking the caloric balance. Barely.

I am Christine and I am fickle. I’m also a lot of things.

On the whole?

I am fickle.

While I have always thought of this as a glaring character flaw, perhaps – just perhaps – it might actually work in my favour this time, on this blog. Part recipe archive, part travelogue, and part manifestation of my indulgence, I write about anything that I feel I must share with others. I’ll write about the sourdough I made today, or the blast that I had running around in the wind and rain in Cancale, or the cappuccino that saved my life. The topics I write about will seem haphazard, with no obvious trend most of the time. If you’re still around after the dizzying spin, I’ll invite you into my head. Everyone will be thrilled to meet you.

I love food, and like every other healthy relationship, it loves me too. Especially since it does wondrous things to my endorphins.

Now what is my deal with crunchy bottoms?

Me: “There’s something wrong with this cake.”

X:”It tastes perfectly fine to me.”

Me:”No! Something’s missing!”

X:”Hey it’s just a cake, you don’t have to get so worked up abou-“

Me: “It’s not just a cake! It’s…missing something!”

X:”Whipped cream? Chocolate shavings? Icing sugar?”

Me:”It…doesn’t have a crunchy bottom.”

I like crunchy things. I’ll eat tables and tables of crunchy things. I’d eat my keyboard if it didn’t look like it housed communities of E. coli.

I also tend to be overly dramatic.

This is a personal blog with personal opinions and preferences. We all have differing views on every possible thing, not to mention on food, so do take whatever I say with a pinch of salt, as with all other things. As always, I am infinitely interested in the varied perspectives and opinions that every individual has, and it is always a joy to be able to view something from another angle. So don’t hold back on the comments, it brings me much pleasure to hear from you.

I am not obliged to please anyone in any way, especially in my writing and expressed views but I will not, however, offend or insult intentionally. If I have done so in any way, do let me know so that I may clear the air and better understand where you are coming from.

Ah. I see you’ve finally written your about page. Oh yes you do tend to be overly dramatic. Very much so.

I love this page about you! And your blog name is too cute – seriously! I’m really fickle too and worse than that, I have a terrible time committing to anything in the long term because I can’t get my mind to stay put on anything for too long.

Thanks for the advice on cameras. Your pictures are gorgeous and so breathtakingly clear! How you managed to get green ice-cream to look as pretty as you did is beyond me. Lol.

I’m definitely going to be reading more of your blog. You have a wonderful flair for writing and I hope you keep embracing life the way you have been!

    Nat xoxo

Thank you. =) Ah commitment issues eh? I know what you mean. Heh.

And I don’t claim to know much about cameras but I know that purchasing one should be given proper thought. It’ll be by your side for a few years at the very least. Do let me know what you’ll be getting or if you need help deciding. Although decisions probably shouldn’t be made by two very fickle people… XD

Hi Catherine! Thanks for dropping by! Glad to know I’m not the only one who’s maddeningly particular about texture in my food. Love your posts and your lovely travel writings as well! =)

Love your wit. Love the way you came up with your blog of just about everything that interests you – because hey! i share those interests too. Superb language you have there and it amazes me how you manage to remember every detail from your food-adventure & spew it out in words back at us! Will be checking in regularly – continue to surprise us please! 😀

Hello Daf! The only reason why I remember these things is probably because they blew me away. I still have plenty to share, so don’t worry. And thank you for your compliments! It’s always great to hear from a reader. =) Feel free to comment on my posts!
